WTF is a Pizza Tri?

To put it simply, it’s a triathlon with a pizza party at the end! With races these days in short supply, way overpriced, and totally out of date it was time to create a get-together with friends to swim, run, and bike our hearts out.

Why Pizza? Jonathan is pretty much a pizzatarian and who doesn’t love crushing pizza after finishing one of the hardest races in the world! Plus, it is actually National Cheese Pizza Day in Canada and that is just fate at work…

Bonus: There will be pizza at the aid stations if you desire.

Next Level Medals

Real talk, I think we will be the first sporting event to have NFTs as medals, on top of that we’ll also have 3D printed medals. Don’t worry if you don’t know what any of that means, just know you’re in for something awesome! I also want to give bonus NFTs for the most courageous, friendliest, most pizza eaten on course, volunteers, and the final finisher. Yeah, last place gets something cool. No other places will be given because this is not a race.

NFT

I'm going to design an AWESOME non-fungible token to verify you completed the 70.3 Pizza Tri.

Claiming Your NFT

Don’t worry if you don’t know what an NFT or a blockchain is, I’m going to send everyone instructions on how to claim. You’re getting a free tech lesson…

3D Medals

A fellow SGLTG has offered to make 3D printed medals!

No More 2D Medals

Basic events have 2D medals but we’re going full 3D printed medals to commemorate this triathlon.

Ironman to Cripple
& Back Again

Long story short, 1yr ago I extruded a disc in my spine wakeboarding that left me partially paralyzed in my right leg. I’m planning this triathlon because minutes before my surgery (9/9/20) I posted that my goal was to do a half Ironman within 1yr of my surgery as I laid on a gurney not sure if I was going ever get back to the sports I love. Nonetheless, if I was ever going to have feeling in my leg again. Thankfully, surgery was able to bring the feeling back but my recovery has been anything but easy. I just recently got back to swimming and biking and only a few weeks ago started doing short jogs. I really don’t know how this is going to go but I’m going for it and I’d love it if you could join me on this adventure.
